Oxygen Media – Web Design for ThriveOnline
ThriveOnline was a women's health communtiy website in the San Francisco Bay Area that was acquired by Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Media in 1999.
Details
ThriveOnline required assistance designing and developing a variety of women's health programs. We created visual mockups and then either built the resulting HTML code or worked with other members of the development team to roll out the new content. We spent a significant amount of time working on their Health Portal.
Results
Thriveonline was hugely popular in the late '90s and had a very dedicated following. They won the 2000 Webby Awards for "Best Health Website", and the "People's Voice" award at the following 2001 Webby Awards. Athough the website is unfortunately no longer live, it was a great experience to provide web services when they were thriving, and to learn from such great people what effort is required to maintain an online community. This was web community building long before "Web 2.0" or the social networks of today.
