Etrade Financial – New Account Process

In 2001 we redesigned the Online Account Application for Etrade Financial. This interface has been so successful that it is still in use today.

Objectives

Enhance the Etrade brand
Streamline the account process by incorporating usability data
Reduce the time required to complete the application (i.e. steps, number of pages)
Provide users with visual cues to aid their progress
Develop a distinct "look & feel" for the application - a "mini-site"
Consult with the IT, operations, and development departments

Results

Incorporated usability data from the user interface department
Assisted in adjusting the HTML code to reproduce the visual design
Reduced application completion time
Custom interface that still functions today, viewed by virtually everyone who applied for an account — myself included
Enhanced Etrade brand experience
